vel_ziliuse
Hi,<br> I found a lens marked "Stein Optik MC" (135mm f/2.8).<br> The lens mount seems to be that of a Canon FD:<br> <img src="http://www.venduto-milano.it/templateasta02/stein-28mc-diam52f2.8+135mc-diam52-f2.8/big/08.jpg" HEIGHT=400> <img src="http://www.venduto-milano.it/templateasta02/stein-28mc-diam52f2.8+135mc-diam52-f2.8/big/11.jpg" HEIGHT=400> <br><br> Does anybody know about this company? <br> About the quality of their lenses?<br> About the age of the lenses?<br> <br><br> Thanks a lot!<br> Carlo
dave_s
Hell, nobody's answering so I'll pontificate. (i) I know zero about this lens, but (TMTOMH) I Googled it and there are a few references on European ebay. So aftermarket lens, sold in Europe to a small market, made by a company with a different name. Probably, uh, rather inexpensive. (ii) Burn a roll of film and tell us about the quality. I bet it shoots great soft portraits wide open, and it's probably pretty sharp at f/8 or f/11 on a tripod. Tell me if I'm wrong. (iii) I'd guess 80s or early 90s, but who knows or cares? Use it and tell us how it performs.
mad reilly
I was curious too. I looked all over the internet and nothing. I think it's a German made lens. Give it a go and see what happens. Wait I found this company. http://66.218.71.231/language/translation/translatedPage.php?tt=url&text=http%3a//www.steiner.de/&lp=de_en&.intl=us&fr=slv1- WWW.STEINER.DE makes binoculars. Maybe years ago they made camera lenses as well.
casualcollector
The look of the lettering and details of the mounting end suggest low cost, generic, Japanese made lens sold by a distributor under a name they made up.
