tony_f.1
I have a question from current Leica M7 users... How many rolls of film on the average does the battery last?
erik_jones
i don't think it's possible to say how many rolls the batteries would last unless the camera was in constant operation. it's a combination of time and use. i've had sets last far longer than others, but i sometimes have long lulls in my use. stephen_w.
The first set only lasted a matter of days. The second (current) set has lasted almost two years, perhaps, 50+ rolls.
alun
There have been many exchanges on this subject recently (they usually elicit replies like, "Oh, man, you shoulda bought an MP"). I know that Leica says consumption offers the equivalent of 65 rolls (is it?) per set, but of course seems very vague about how this is calculated. My own use indicates about 12-13 rolls or so on average. However, I have also had a problem recently with what appear to be false battery check warnings. My own theory -- and as soon as I can make time I'm going to get leica to check it over -- is that the problem stems from the contacts reading the DX coding on the film can. It's a long story but if it's at all relevant to your circumstances then email me off-list and I'll try and explain. --alun
skip_williams
Mine last a long, long time: 100 rolls +. It's very easy to carry a spare set or two for those times you put the camera into the bag without turning off the meter and the shutter release gets partially depressed and drains the battery. It's never been an issue for me. Skip
peter_n1664876959
Should be around 60 rolls but I guess varies with use and the passage of time. I have not replaced the batteries in my M7s in a long time - too long to remember how many rolls have gone through. I keep a spare set of batteries with each cam, and now one of them wears a TA Rapidgrip so the replacements are inside the grip on that one. It has not been an issue for me either. pc_b
40-50 rolls, with maybe 25s of metering action per picture: 10s on average before, and 15s after the shoot (auto switch-off), because the motor always winds on. P.
george_b1
I have one of the very early M7s. It came with batteries that pooped out within a month. Since then, batteries have lasted between 50 and 80 36-exposure rolls. Keep the camera switched OFF when not in use. George (The Old Fud)
