rick_strome
I recently shot 7 rolls of film (Kodak 400 NC) on my older Hasselblad 500C with a 12 back. I recently had the body overhauled by Hasselblad because the interlock between the body/back would sometimes jam.2 different times 2 frames were overlapped by 1/8". I searched the archives and found a similar topic for a Rollei 6008 (is the problem similar)? Why would the frames overlap randomly? I thought the system was mechanical with meshing gears causing the film to advance.Could there be slippage? Is this a problem with the body or the back or both. Also this back allows me to get 13 frames out of a normal roll of 120 film (without any overlap) - The frames are just closer together.HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED THIS AND IS THE REPAIR SIMPLE.THANKS, RICK
ken___1
Rick, this is a very common problem with the Hassy back, a gear (plastic, for film spacing) in the back has worn out, it only cost a few dollars for the part, but to get in to it is another issue. joe_tom_easley
I had this happen with a brand new 120 back. It only happened once, but I am nervous. Anyone have any idea what could have caused this? Thanks, JT
dave_wilson1
Hasselblad quality control probably needs to have ITS plastic gear changed. I am driving to them tommorow to have one of my new backs repaired for the SECOND time, as well as my CB 80 that came with the kit. I'll admit I'm a bit tough on cameras, but these half plastic lenses are NOT designed for any hard use, they need bubblewrap! The rest of my gear is excellent? Go figure. sara_gerrick
My 500elx had this problem. At first spacing between images was uneven, then it began overlapping images. About 3-4 images per roll were being ruined. I live in Southern Cal and took the camera to the only local authorized Hassy repair center (obtained address though Hasselblad web site). The problem was with my 12 back and cost about $65 to repair. I don't know what was involved but felt this was reasonable relative to costs associated with owning this camera. It only took 2 days for repair. Spacing is perfect now. Sara Friedman
