jay_fisher1
I'm considering the Sunpak 120JTTL to use with my Canon 20D. Does anyone experience with this combination? I primarily use the Canon 20-35mm and 70-300mm lenses. I previously used a Metz 402 and like the results.
picturesque
You can only use the 120JTTL in auto thyristor or manual mode with the 20D. The TTL part does not work with ETTL II, which is the flash implementation of the 20D. However, in auto thyristor and manual, the flash would work well--although you only have 3 auto apertures in auto thyristor. I have both items but don't use them together--I've used the 120J off camera with the 20D/580EX.
armando_reyes
Metz units are more accurate on the auto sensors compared to the Sunpak strobes.I have the Sunpak 120jttl but the interface moduleis obsolete for today's technology, it uses Canon's old TTL, threegeneration older to the more advanced ETTLII, my use for the 120jis on a light stand/umbrella combo on manual mode for formals, or on location for backlight on bridal settings. It is a very good back up versatile strobe.
