marina_h
Greetings, I love to dance, and I would like to take some pictures of ballroom dances I am into. I don't want people ot pose for me, so I will be shooting "in-motion" and it will be rather dark. I am equipped with external flash and diffuser, canon 20D, 24-105mm lense and a tripod. I can get access to wherever I need to on a dance floor. Do you know any good websites where I can read about similar projects? Or maybe have some advise? Thank you. errolyoung
I just shot a chance dance company. They were on a stage with stage lighting. I shot with my Nikon D70, sb800 on iTTL-BL to pick up some stage lighting. No diffuser since the flash needed all the power it could put out. If you don't have a ceiling that you can use, the diffuser might not help much. Try to get the costume moving. On some try your rear curtain flash. Have fun. adw
Salsa and Jive events are Hard but some of the most fun you can have shooting! Your diffuser wont be much help as mentioned, but you could get by standing in front of a white wall and bouncing the flash at close range. If you have two lights try setting them on stands across the hall from each other and shoot in the 'kill zone' between them. I found I was most successful when I settled in one area and waited for dancers to come into my frame. Do show whatever you end up with as this is something I want to try and better myself at! (See my recreation pics).<div></div>
