steve_black2
I am trying to calibrate two Dell LCD monitors (1901 and 1905 models), and after I run through the calibration process, the images on the screen look very dark, and I can't see the detail in the shadows at all (in pictures that in pre-calibration, had the detail). I can't ever see the 4 black boxes in the black luminance setting, even with brightness at 100, it is one solid black block. I'm guessing this is the issue, but haven't found a way around it. Anyone have any similar issues or fixes? Thanks! Steve
jaybee
I just calibrated my Dell 1702 using the same device without any problems.
serge c
What targets do you set for white point, gamma and luminance and what do you do during the calibration process (like, adjust RGB buttons as well as backlight)? Does your version of Spyder2 software (I'm not familiar with Suite) give you an option of validation and printing out a report, as well as a curve display? steve_black2
White Point: 6500 Gamma: 2.2 Adjusting: Brightness (Factory Default is 100%, and that is where is remained during calibration) During the calibration process, I adjust the RGB values to match the target. serge c
Does your software give you an option to select Native White Point, like Spyder2 Pro? Generally it's a preffered option for an LCD. I'm not saying that it will fix the problem, but it would rule out the RGB adjustments as a cause. RGB adjustments on LCD are better avoided unless absolutely necessary. steve_black2
I used 2.2 gamma w/ native white point and it turned out great! Thanks for the help.
serge c
Great. Nice to see a case where practice actually matches theory.
