Coastal Maine Trip

It's all nice but the roads leading down to Bar Harbor can be crowded. A ferry to Monhegan Island or harbor cruises in Boothbay and the roads down to Stonington or Port Clyde are scenic. Also Portland has great restaurants and the mail boat trip from there to the various Casco Bay Islands is a good way to spend a couple of hours. Or get off at Peak's Island, walk or bike around for an hour or so and get another ferry back to Portland. Have a good trip.

Think Lighthouses. There are quite a few that are spectacular to photograph. The most famous are the Portland Light in Portland and Nubble Light in York. also seek out Bass Light and Pemaquid Point. Just google these and you will get a wealth of info.

Here is one from Pemaquid Poit.

And of course in Acadia, plan on getting up early to be atop Cadillac mountain at first light. Often too foggy up there to get shots, but if it isn't, you will just LOVE the scenics.

Haven't the tme to repeat a post of mine last week, so do a search on Acadia on this forum and you'll find plenty of advice. We're staying in Southwest first week of Oct and expect a great time. Google Acadia and check out the locations on any of several sites, including the official one. Thurston's Lobster Pound across the water from Bass Harbor. Bar Harbor is a tourist trap. I think Oct 12 (?) (saturday) is a Beer festival, in case you want to photograph wildlife.
