SanDisk SD card vs SanDisk Ultra II SD card

Getting ready for my Pentax *IST DS purchase and wonder what is the

difference between these two cards?

 

Any preference and why ?

 

Sandisk ULTRA II 512mb Secure Digital (SD) Card ~ $65

 

 

SanDisk 512MB Secure Digital Card ~ $50

The ultra II is faster. I have both cards and the difference in performance is quite noticeable in the DS. I would definately go for the ultra II.

The ultra 2 is faster.

However some of them have problems.My one bit the dust in just over a year!

Some of the Japanese made cards seem to have less problems(Sandisk are made in China usually) according to some people but I cannot confirm this!

Have you tried Lexar?

They are pretty good too!

Well determined it has to do with write speed of the cards.

Next question is what is the performance of these two cards with the Pentax *IST DS. *IST Buffer speed ?

I just got my Kingston 512mb Elite Pro Card (around 60x write speed) in the mail. Before that I bought a standard Viking 512mb card. The Kingston card is FAST, and the battery drain is supposed to be lower with the higher write speed.

I took 142 jpegs on Sunday at full resolution with the Kingston card. I never had to change the batteries!
