guido_gazzino
What do you think about the EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 and the EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6, both IS lenses? Ok, image stabilizer is very usefull, but what about optics quality? Are these lenses decently sharpness?
andy_van_eynde
Have the first one and like it a lot. Can not really compare the sharpness since I just recently bought a seccond lens (EF70-200 f4L). But you can find a review on : http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EF-S-17-85mm-f-4-5.6-IS-USM-Lens-Review.aspx
yakim_peled1
Have you searched? There are a lot of user reviews and user comments on them. The bottom line: They represent a good compromise between features, optical quality and price. Happy shooting, Yakim.

grant g
I have the 17-85 and I think the optics are okay. I don't hesitate to use it for travelling or walking around. But I'll think twice before ever using it again at a wedding since f/4-5.6 is pretty slow.
shadowcatcher
I have the EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS and it's bloody fantastic. Just borrow somebody elses and take two pics, one with IS on and one with IS off. It's amazing.
phyrpowr
Been using the 28-135 IS for ...Hell, I forget 5-7 years anyway, mine gives me beautifully sharp shots when I do my job, full frame film camera as well as "cropped" digital. Tested two different 17-85s, and only the center half was acceptably sharp, and this on a 20D which eliminates the actual edges of the lens itself
