savagesax
I sooo agree, how can you shoot a wedding without complete understanding of your camera and lighting. It takes a long time to learn, like getting a degree, but it is well worth the effort.

jean_marc_liotier
Sweat, sore arm and longing for battery packs... Thanks for the excellent summary of a typical wedding !
photographydreams
1st ever wedding (not the official photographer) - relaxed, fun, happy. 2nd wedding - climbed a monument to get a shot of all the guests - bum muscles very sore the next day... 3d wedding - proud owner of a 'proper' flash and 30 different formals groups - incredibly sore hand/arm, took about 1500 pictures in 12 hours - sore index finger. :-) you gotta love it! steve_levine
I've read 100 books on baseball, and I've practiced for years, but I could never hit the "fastball".
Dave Gardner
I like at the end of the night..."The next few day's" This is the part that no one sees or appreciates. The endless, time consuming part of it. Going over all the shots...and sometimes...more then just a few days. That's why we only do 2-3 weddings a month. God bless you guys/gals that do one a week. afs760bf
Pretty good check list and scare tactics. I like the one about making everyone promise to be there an hour and 15 minutes early for the pre-ceremony shots. Everyone promises - but promises are for breaking. There will be at least four excuses that "something came up at the last minute." But that's OK, because you've had an extra hour to become more familiar with your light meter, or flash, or Superman comic books.
laurenm
Thanks Andre, I will definitely read and re-read this and will love showing it to friends and family who keep telling me, "go for it, wedding photographers make a ton of money!" Great educational info!
