20D + sigma 50-500mm experience

has any one had any experience with mounting the sigma ex 50-500mm

lens to a 20d body. I went to a camera store, and a the guy told me

that sigma was having some trouble adapting lenses for canon. I was

just curious since i read reviews, but they were all with nikon

cameras using the lens. Has anyone been able to get their hands on

one and use it, and see if it works well with the 20d

I don't have any first hand experience with the Sigma lenses. I have read several for sale ads for the Sigma's stating; "some can be rechipped to work on the canon and some can't be rechipped"

 

You should contact Sigma to find out which of their lenses are compatible with the EOS D-slr's, and which models can be re-chipped.

What a load of FUD nonsense! Take a look at this set of shots with the lens on the 20D - it works fine:

I use a 20D and the 50-500 and see no problems at all. Viewfinders a bit dim though cos it's f6.3

However, their not-so-long-ago history was <a href="http://photonotes.org/articles/beginner-faq/lenses.html#compatibilitythirdparty">really awful</a>. </p>
