roger.a
Been using a 1290s (1280 in the USA) for a couple of years, mainly prinitng Black Only (MIS Eboni). Good results, but not trouble free. Recently bought a new Epson 4800 - after hesitating for a long time because of the cost. I've now printed over 50 A4 colour - all accurate, perfect first time out. 12x18 inch B&W prints on Epson Matte paper and on Hahnemuhle PR 308gsm paper are just coming out exactly as I expect them to look from the screen. All prints are from EOS5D raw files. I really recommend this printer very strongly to anyone who is considering it.
Ed_Ingold
There is a modification which will enable you to switch between glossy black and matte black without wasting $100 worth of ink. You can search http://www.luminous-landscape.com for the solution. I believe it's a change in software.
bill_t__new_mexico_
Well, if you REALLY want a wow, get a roll of 17" something and print 'em BIG! Size really does matter!

roger.a
I bought it for the big print capability - the 5D prints well at 16x24 inches - I've been making big prints in sections with the 1290 printer.
philfx
I wonder how much better the 4800 inks and "engine" are over the 7600? I am in a flip flop situation on this...although I do 80% color on luster or gloss for Prepress. Glad you like your prints...I am impressed you got 50 images to print with a fairly new camera! I would have a hard time to pic which few images of mine to enlarge. Any sample images?
