xcapekey.com
hey all..been using an 8008 for the past few weeks AI lenses and love the electronic rangefinder feature....which other bodies have it? do the n2020 or 6000 have it? thanks r
randall ellis
I am afraid that the 8008 is an autofocus SLR, not a rangefinder. The N2020 and 6000 are both autofocus models as well and should accept the same lenses you are using with the 8008. - Randy
anupam
I know the N90s and the N80 have it. I would venture to say all AF bodies do, but am not sure. The N90's is better because it even suggests which way to turn the lens in order to bring the subject in focus. The N80 just confirms focus. Its like having AF without the speed! BTW, most of my "does model X have feature Y?" questions are easily answered at nikonlinks.com which you might want to try out. -A
albert_smith
I am afraid that the 8008 is an autofocus SLR, not a rangefinder.
Yes they are auto-focus cameras, but Nikon calls the display that shows the required focus direction and the focus confirmation dot an electronic rangefinder. It works very well in practice, and in a short time you learn to see the display out of the corner of your eye while composing.
A silky smooth AI / AIS lens on my N8008s is sweet working with the electronic rangefinder. It is easier to focus with my aging eyes via the electronic RF, because there is no judging or guessing. When the center dot comes up, you are in focus. anupam
Randall, SLRs can have electronic rangefinders. This has nothing to do with rangefinder cameras. Its concept is kind of the same in that it lets you figure out the distance of focus. -A
Guest
F4, for one. Don't forget you can get screens for, I think, all the F-series cameras that have split-image rangefinder spots.
jay_miao1
As long as the VF has implemented focus assistant LEDs such as 'focus not possible warning, in-focus indication, focus-to-right and focus-to-left arrows' as exactly n2020 does while 6000 should do the same as a later model(?), they all are capable of Electronic RF with AI/S lenses. bill_harris1
I am sure it had it on the F5 with the use of "D" type lens and 3D matrix metering...I read some where that the D indicated it would maeasure "distance, light and color"
jsbc
Even the D70 -w hich does not meter with the AI/AIS lenses, have an in-focus indicator. However, it does not have arrow signs to tell you which direction to turn your lens to focus.
frank granovski
When I read the title I was thinking Contax G2 and Minolta CLE. ;*)
briany
If I'm not mistaken, the N70 has it with direction indicators.
