Canon spool in LTM

Got my first LTM (IIIf RD), and only now noticed the film spool

says "Canon". Is it safe to use or should I replace with OEM model ?

Luckily I shoot without my glasses or I couldn't use the LTM's.

Love the small size, though.

Perfectly safe to use the Canon spool. Consider it an "upgrade". The Canon spool has a patented mechanism such that the knob you have to pull on can pop out further (push and turn CCW), so you can get a decent hold on it. Just tested one of mine in my Leica IIIa, it has exactly the same "slippage" on the clutch as a Leica spool.

I wear glasses, use them with my IIIC.

The rangefinder/viewfinder on these toys is usually irrelevant for me:

I mostly use a 35mm lens, rarely 50mm...the wonderful Leica 35mm bright frame finder (Hoochie Koochie or Nookienookums or some such) is fine with glasses. I even use that finder for 90mm (usually just visualize 90mm in the 35 field, rather than bothering with my 90mm finder). That bright frame finder is the absolute ultimate photographic object in any format IMHO :-)

I agree about the 35mm finder - SBLOO. I got one as part of a package with a Nicca. The

finder is fantastic. However, the foot is a little wide for prewar Leicas, though it works

great on the Nicca and on postwar Leicas.
