Glenn McCreery
I just went through this decision. The Nikon has a bit wider lens 24-80 mm 35mm equivalent, while the Olympus has 27-110 mm equivalent. The Nikon has an 8 megapixel sensor while the Olympus has 7.1. The Nikon is more expensive, about $525 minimum from a reputable seller while the Olympus is about $395 and up. I decided on the Olympus and bought it from KEH (www.keh.com) for $395 since they have a great reputation on photo.net for selling used equipment. (and, from personal experience, I would avoid any internet seller based in Brooklyn, NY). It is a wonderful camera that has a quality feel to it with it's cast magnesium body. What tipped the decision for me was the availability of an underwater housing from Olympus at a reasonable price (about $300). Of course, thats not a feature that the majority of photographers are lookig for, so read the reviews and compare. And then consult your wallet.
