cgarrett
Has anyone tried using infrared film in a Holga? I am wondering if the light leaks in even a well-taped Holga would be too much for the sensitive film. I have heard of people selling 120 rolls of Kodak HiE that they have rolled from large format film, and I think that infrared Holga shots would be amazing (if anyone knows of a good source for 120 or 220 rolls of IR film, please let me know). Thanks.
kwang_lee
Davidromano.com if you have to have the Kodak. There's someone else, too, that cuts down 70mm HIE...but I can't find the link. If you want to try Macophot 820IR, bhphoto.com has occasional stock. Good luck....
troyammons
I would imagine it would work well if you use 120 film. I took some photos with my B690 and it had light leak. It was bad with 220, but okay with 120 maco film. Here is a link. http://www.pbase.com/tammons/infrared_film
grapegeek
Go over to http://www.toycamera.com , I've seen several recent posts about using HIE in a Holga and with some good success....
johnmarkpainter
I wonder about the Film viewer window on the back (where you see the Frame numbers). jmp
ed_nazarko
I actually have a Holga that has zero light leaks (how did it pass inspection that way?.) I tried a roll of Maco's IR film in it, and had problems that I think are related to the film counter window, and to leaks that must not amount to much in terms of the visible spectrum. There's also the question of exposure problems - exposures are really, really long with the proper filter. In my case I used the "repeating shutter releases" approach just for testing (yes I know it's not the same as a long exposure.) Based on my results, I moved on - I've discovered I'm not a fan of random light leaks. But I have seen some really good stuff by others who've modified the shutter for a bulb-like function. blknwhtfoto
Holga has a new model out, the N i believe. It has B setting and a tripod mount. IR and holga, ooh man. Sounds good to me.
cgarrett
I've got a jury rigged B shutter and tripod mount, so I think I will be OK. BH does have the macophot film, so I will definitely give this a shot.
