ashosakinawa
Hi again. I have found at the forum of the dpreview.com the following complaint about the Panasonic DMC-FZ20 and I want to get your comments. 'Unfortunately, my FZ20 developed a problem that none of the buttons work after turning it on. It might work again after I reboot a few times but today it has gotten so bad that I couldn't take any pictures after a while. I remember someone on this forum has described this same problem on his FZ20 before and has sent his camera to the Panasonic repair shop. So my guess is Panasonic might have some problems with its cameras' circuitry but I don't know how common this problem is among you folks.' Do you think that because the FZ20 does not have a TTL auto focusing, it will be a huge disadvantage in this camera?? Or because it doesn't have an orientation sensor like FZ5 it will be also another disadvantage of this Camera? Thanx for comments, I am almost convinced 90% of this Camera. godfrey
Any individual camera unit might have a defective component, or a breakage. The problem is certainly not endemic to the model. The FZs do have TTL auto focusing, they work their focusing implementation directly from the image formed on the sensor. An orientation sensor is a convenience. jimstrutz
None of the items you mention (one defective camera, autofocusing method, orientation sensor) make any real difference in how the camera operates, or in its image quality. They are non-issues.
drjedsmith
If it makes any difference, I get great quality with our DMC-FZ10...not as challenging to shoot with as a film SLR, but it makes great shots in low light because of the image stabilization, and that zoom is really amazing. I'd say go for it. Just keep it at ISO 80 and you'll be amazed.
Jed
yuriy y. vilin
This is probably an isolated case: a few friends of mine use FZ20s and happy with 'em. TTL AF - see comment above. Personal note: This is great camera. Covers practically any scenario that average amateur needs and provides excellent image quality.
jcuknz
Even works well in the dark, I was taking photos of planes landing tonight and I have no doubt that once I get them into PS or PSP I will get the shots I want..I was under exposing by about 3 to 4 stops to get a shutter speed that OIS will work with. The big problem of the x12 zoom is the inability to focus close when using any amount of zoom. 2000mm at full zoom .. but dioptres help. But for it's other features it is a great camera. forray
One of my relatives have the Panasonic DMC-FZ20 and experience the same problem. Not reacting to any butons. He can't take pictures. No fix yet.
