nizar
I have a used "New Mamiya 6" which I purchased on ebay. The camera is cosmetically perfect. After using it with about 7 rolls of 120 films, as I was changing film rolls I found the winder stucked in its extended position and the frame count showing "s" . I initially thaught that the battery had ran out and used the release button on the side of the winder to try and released it. That did not work. I also found that I am unable to remove my 50mm lens from its mount. Is this a sign that my winder is history? I have not come accross a similar combination of problems after going through the postings on this site. Please help!
darkprints
"Is this a sign that my winder is history?...Please help!" I'm sure you've read about the Mamiya 6's winding mechanism problems and the fact that Mamiya no longer stocks repair parts for this problem. My condolences.... chris_patti1
Contact Mamiya USA. Even though they no longer stock parts, there are still some repair outfits that they may be able to recommend that will work on the 6.
graham_patterson1
Can you close the shutter curtain? The lens won't come off with the curtain open. My suspicion is that you have a jammed mechanism.
nizar
I am able to close the shutter curtain but still unable to remove the lens.
david_bennett5
I had a similar problem with the winder and lens jamming - Mamiya were able to fix it for me without having to replace the whole winder assembly. They do have some spare winders for the 6MF though, at least here in the UK.
nizar
Thanks guys for all the input. I sent the camera to a local technician who managed to release the lens. He was also able to release the winder. He found a small spring in the winder was broken which cause all the problem. Unfortunately he couldn't find spares. I had to send the camera to an Cathay Photos in Singapore to have it looked at and they got back to me to say they could fix it. I asked them to check the winder mechanism and they gave it a clean bill of health.
