35mmdelux
Supposedly the decimal lights up when the batteries are low. I've swapped them out but decimal keeps lighting up. Help - THKS- Paul
stephen_w.
If you don't have film in it it will blink, plus the obvious ISO dial being off zero compensation.
nesrani
You'll figure it out Paul - for verily, "it is an endeavor worthy of pursuit!"
stuart_richardson
Sometimes the camera's ISO dial has a problem. If you turn it a bit and then put it back on no compensation, it should go back to normal. You are not using a half case are you? Because I have found that the leather pressed against the dial and would cause this to happen if you hit it. It is the only major design flaw in the M7 as far as I am concerned... 35mmdelux
Thanks, Stephen - Seems to have done the trick. All seemed ok at first blush but I moved the comp dial back-n-forth, set in on zero, and the decimal went out. THKS- Paul
35mmdelux
actually, yes. love the smell of new leather. THKS
stephen_w.
"It is the only major design flaw in the M7 as far as I am concerned..." That and the dusty VF, and mine has the factory installed, not up-graded "new" VF. I've got a small piece of tape over the gap until I DIY from a recently posted procedure. seb v.
Paul The point in my viewfinder sometimes does this when my nose presses against the exp comp. dial-not the little button, just the actual dial. Crappy design flaw IMO. I bet you are a left eye shooter.
stephen_w.
Seb, I mentioned that same thing here some months back here (when Jay was still around), no one had ever heard of it. Hopefully, the exposure is only one increment (1/3-stop) up or down. Leica took a perfectly functioning ISO dial from the M6 (I don't have a TTL, so cannot comment) and "fixed" it. One more design defect for me: DX contacts. Do the TTL models have this too?
seb v.
Stephen, do you think the camera actually changes exposure when the light comes on or is it just the light being activated by the pressure?
stephen_w.
Seb, very little pressure from my nose, just contact to the center of the dial, I'm left eyed. I have no idea if the camera is changing exposure, as the shutter speed diodes constantly changes, anyway. I'll check later on. Maybe I'll try some more (electrical) tape on the dial in addition to the (packaging) tape on the VF, sheesh.
35mmdelux
yes, well actually I only have one eye. Ha! hey, my 7 has its own mouse pad and I lay it (unknowingly) on its back so that the 35Asph doesn't take any abuse by having the camera body rest on it. Maybe that jimmeed the dial? Never had that problem w/ my M6TTL or Classic. All is well in Singapore now. THKS
stuart_richardson
I'm a left-eyed shooter too. It must be our noses (and/or the half cases) that get us in trouble. I had Luigi make a cutout for the ISO dial and things have been much better since then.
piotr_panne
My brother\'s neighbor\'s boss\'s gardner\'s father said it signals the brown half-case is inappropriate to black wingtips.
karl_keung
once when I pressed the backdoor hard enough I even saw "ASA" sign. but the "floating" shutter speed display is really cool.
