stephen f
I grabbed a used D2 enlarger for a great price. It does need a lamp, otherwise I think everything is there and works. I have a manual onorder, which may or may not tell me what lamp to use. Does anyone knowwhat lamp I should purchase, and what source?
louie_powell1
If you are in the 60Hz world, you need a #211 bulb. These are generally available at well stocked photo stores. They also aren't very expensive - so a good suggestion is to buy three - one to replace the defective bulb, and the others as spares. They last forever, but Murphy's Law says they will fail during a marathon printing session on a holiday when the shops are closed.
roy_des_ruisseaux
Yes the 211 bulb is the one. See if they have a 212 while you're there and pick one up as well. More light should you have some dense negatives or if you're doing big enlargements. Don't know if they still make the 213. I've got one but don't think I've ever used it. neal_wydra1
Dear Stephen, I've used bulbman.com for my Omega lamps in the past. Calumet can probably sell you the right one just by calling them. Neal Wydra
jstream
Most photo stores with a darkroom section should stock all of the above. If not, they can sometimes be ordered through a lighting supply store.
frank.schifano
If you have the condenser head for the D2, then yes the PH211 bulb is correct. If you have one of the dichro color heads, that will not be right. I have the Super Chromega Dichroic II head and it uses an ELC bulb, 250w @ 24v. There is an older color head that uses two bulbs, I believe, and I don't know the requirements for that one. Topbulb and Bulbman are good sources for ELC and PH211 bulbs, but you should be able to find the PH211 in just about any reasonably well stocked photo store. dougk
I had problems with the bulbs blowing for some reason and got tired of paying $7 per, so I ended up getting some cheep Ace 75 watt bulbs (the print rubs off the top) and haven't had a problem.
