dk_perryman_photography
What in your opinion would be the ideal lens to use for a full body shot for fashion with clarity and no distortion? Which lens would you use for yourself? I am aware that you can use a couple of them, but which one(s)would be the standard for you?
richard_laepple
A simple 50mm lens.
richard_laepple
Sorry, we are in the MF forum. A 75/80mm normal lens.
vatovec
Normal lens for full body shots, short tele for the waist up (150 - 180mm) and a 200 - 250 for headshots.
Aoresteen
Since I own one I would use the 110 f/2 F Planar on my Hasselblad. If I didn't have the 110 I would use my 80mm f/2.8 F lens or my 80mm C lens. What MF system do you use?
dk_perryman_photography
I use the Mamiya RZ67II
jnorman2
the 90mm for the RZ is excellent for this purpose. you want to be just close enough to the subject to keep them engaged in the process. too long a lens puts you too far away, too wide and you start meking them nervous by being too close. i did a long series of full-length BW portraiture using a hassy and the std 80mm - it was a great combination, and a very fun series. simonpg
80mm would be where I would start for a full body portrait. Maybe something longer like 100/120mm will have a similar effect while giving you more distance. I think 150 (except from a bigger distance) may be too tight. The 80mm Planar is wonderful. erik scanhancer
Full body shot? Speaking 6x6 or 6x7: 180mm. This lens is long enough to beautifully blur the surrondings to make your model really pop out of the frame. Also, because you will be further away from your model you won't have to look down so much, resulting in better body proportions (especially longer legs than with a shorter lens). When I do kid's fashion I always use a 120mm, because kids need to look more cuddly. (Mums have to buy their clothes.) For portraiture in general a shorter lens would be advised, like a 120mm or 150mm.
