david-nicolas
My CRT monitor, a Dell P992, offers the possibility to vary theluminosity values of the R, G and B channels. They are actually setlike this: R = 68, G = 80, B = 88 (for luminosity). Is this normal orpossible, or should the luminosity values be all identical? [NB: Thecontrast values which I have varied when calibrating my monitor arelike this: R = 98, G = 84, B = 47.]
._kaa
That is normal. Calibrating your monitor -- should you decide to do it -- would entail adjusting these values, separately for each channel. They do not have to be the same.
david-nicolas
Thanks for your answer. All right, I was confused: it is indeed the luminosity (or luminance) values that should be varied when calibrating the monitor. But what about the contrast values? Should they all be identical ?? (At the moment they are not.)
ryanjoseph
On a CRT you always want to up the contrast to the maximum level so that your monitor can display is best range of colors.
emre
No, you don't. That means running it at maximum brightness. It is more commonly recommended to maintain a comfortable level of brightness; not too dark, not too bright. Your software should help you to find this balance.
