maarten_van_viegen
there's one for sale second hand, and would be interested to know if it's a good idea to invest into this system. and to hear people's opinions about it. thanks
james_mullineaux
I'm just getting into a Balcar system myself. From what I've seen on ebay, the "A" power packs and heads that use "U" flashtubes are more prevolent. If the B3 system is compatable with the A/U series you're in luck, otherwise you may have a problem finding parts, heads, etc.
marc_mest
Excellent system.. If you are in the US, you are without any real support for this system since calumet is dropping the balcar line. The only real con to the b3 is the size and those fragile pyrex shells. ( Make sure the used system has been serviced for the overheating problem. I am not sure if it were a recall, but it was an issue ) Get the p4 pack for the system as well, since those are pretty cheap used right now. the b3 pack limits the modeling light to 8 seconds ( to save power ). Outdoors the 8 sec limit is not really an issue.. but when you are in the studio it is a pain because you need the modeling lights.
