wdavidprice
Is there such a thing as an adapter to enable mounting non Olympuslenses to OM bodies? If so which lenses will work? TIA
skip_williams
No, the OM flange-to-film distance is a long 46mm. The only major brand greater is Nikon at 46.5mm, which makes that adapter plausible, but not practical. I guess you could make an adapter with some transfer optics, but that would be the only way. w._h.1
There is an adapter on eBay that allows Pentax M42 lenses to be mounted on OM bodies, but I believe infinity focus is lost.
robert_grasing
I have an adapter for my M42 lenses to be used with my OM bodies. It is, in effect, a 1.2X tele-extender (eg, the 50/2 becomes a 60/2.4). Focuses to infinity. Excellent center performance, but the edges and corners are very soft, requiring stopping down to f/11 or smaller, and because of that, I don't use it much and don't recommend it. skip_williams
Robert, I wasn't aware such things existed, but your experience just underscores my point. Only Zuiko's can be practically used on OM bodies, anything else is a kludge and somes with significant limitations.
Aoresteen
I have an M42 adapter that I use rarely. Infinity focus is lost. I used it with my Penatx 100mm f/4 Macro lens. The reason for the longer back focus mount is the shutter ring that is mounted around the lens mount.
