john_linn
I used to work on a Mac and didn't use file name extensions. I burned cd's with photoshop files (.psd)on them. Now when I try to open from windows I obviously get an unknown file error. I can save the image to desktop and rename obviously, but any other options to more easily use the files? Thanks, John
j_yabrow1
In Windows File Explorer, you should be able to right-click on the file and select "Open With"->"Adobe Photoshop", or "Open With"->"Choose Program...". If Adobe Photoshop doesn't appear in the list of choices, select "Choose Program" and a dialog will open with a list of all of your applications. Choose "Adobe Photoshop" in the dialog box and from then on it should automatically appear in the "Open With" menu.
Ed_Ingold
Do you know the file type - JPEG, TIFF, etc.? Use the "Open As" command in Photoshop, and enter the file type. Alternately, add the correct extension using the file explorer.
peufeu
Open Photoshop, look in the menu, File -> Open As, or File -> Open then select the type
john_linn
J - doesn't work. I had tried that - comes up with error of "not the right type of document". However, Edward's solution seems to work. Thanks.
andreas_weber
I don't know if it works with Photoshop, but try simply to "drag-and-drop" the image files from the explorer to the Photoshop window (dropping them either in the window or on the title-bar). That convinces most Windows applications to open any file they actually can read... Andreas
