opening ps files in windows that were burned to cd from mac without .psd extension

Recommended Posts

I used to work on a Mac and didn't use file name extensions. I

burned cd's with photoshop files (.psd)on them. Now when I try to

open from windows I obviously get an unknown file error. I can save

the image to desktop and rename obviously, but any other options to

more easily use the files? Thanks, John

In Windows File Explorer, you should be able to right-click on the file and select "Open With"->"Adobe Photoshop", or "Open With"->"Choose Program...". If Adobe Photoshop doesn't appear in the list of choices, select "Choose Program" and a dialog will open with a list of all of your applications. Choose "Adobe Photoshop" in the dialog box and from then on it should automatically appear in the "Open With" menu.

I don't know if it works with Photoshop, but try simply to "drag-and-drop" the image files from the explorer to the Photoshop window (dropping them either in the window or on the title-bar). That convinces most Windows applications to open any file they actually can read...
