f.22
What ways can i store digital Photo's? I have a laptop computer and think a extrnal hard drive with plug n' play USB cable and about 250 GB storage may be the way to go. Any infomation will be helpful. coconutdaydream
definitely external. get two if you can afford it. and it's also cheaper to just buy a normal harddrive and buy a housing for it and build it yourself. you can get a 250gig hdd for under $170 and a housing for $45, whereas a pre-built 250gig from someplace like best buy will run you $300+
scott_eaton
A 250gig Maxtor USB 2.0 external drive costs $217 at Newegg.com. A 200gig LaCie is $158. The external drives are a great way to store a huge amount of external data. For critical/longterm archiving stick to DVD or CDROM though.
Uhooru
Scott, I've read that you need to buy "archival" quality media for long lasting storage and that regular CD/DVs half a pretty short life. Is that your understanding?
andrew_certain
I've given up on CD/DVD archiving. I just have a pair of external drives that I rotate off- site (to my office at work) weekly. Since I'm verifying the files every week, I have a lot more confidence in their fidelity than media that I stick on a shelf somewhere. htc
Definitely extrnal hard drives. Maxtor is a good choice (1$ per GB, up to 300GB supports USB2 and FireWare). For extreme cases there are external solutions up to 1Tb.
Calin
