trong_duc_doan
Hello, I am new to MF and I just ordered a 500CM system with a 80mm lens andA12 back. I am wondering if it is possible to load a 120 film roll(instead a of 220 film roll) into a A24 back ?Thanks for your help.
jean-louis llech
No, that's not possible.
The 120 roll has a kind of cardboard back, and the 220 roll doesn't. Thus both rollfilms don't have the same thickness.
Please think that if Hasselblad manufactured two different backs, one for the 120 and another one for the 220 rollfilm, and called them A12 and A24, they had probably a reason.
andreas_carl
I am using 120 film in my A24 backs without any problem or loss of sharpness (as far as I can tell). The only problem is that one must remember to stop taking pictures after 12 exposures...
hasselblad technician
When I was photographing weddings, there were quite a few times, when the bride and groom went to change, that I only needed to shoot 10 or 11 shots of the last dance and good bye shots. For these times, I used a roll of 120 film in a 220 back, and never had any problem. The only thing that you have to remember is that the spacing between frames will sometimes be a bit more than normal, and part of the 12th frame might be lost. So just remember to only shoot 11 exposures instead of 12, just to play it safe. David S. trong_duc_doan
Thanks a lot for your answers. I'll keep in mind to stop at the 11th exposure.
russ_britt1
The old non automatic 120 back would also shoot 220 film if you blocked the window with a rubber plug ,made just for this reason by hassey befor thet made 220 backs.
