h_macdonald
Hi I have a set of 360 symmar lens elements and was wondering on what would be the correct shutter for them. Ive looked at Schneider optics site and it refers to a "5FS" shutter which i presumed was a compound, after searching through forums it seems to be a compound # 5but measuring the thread on each elements they both seem to be around 67.5 which from memory seems too small for a compound #5 as i have an old 300 xenar in compound # 5 ? and the thread seems much wider i cannot check exactly my xenar in compound as i am away from home for a while so not sure.Where there variation on compound shutters, even though the numbering of them was the same as in 1,2,3,4,
steve_hamley
The "5FS" shutter is the Compur #5 electronic, the one with the control box and cables. IIRC, it uses 6 "C" cells. Anyway, that's what a "5FS" is. Steve
uli_mayer
A look at Schneider's German site may give you additional information about the opto-mechanical specs about your lens and appropriate shutters for it. On www.schneider-kreuznach.com/archiv you'll find a wealth of data in pdf-files about the lenses they made from the fifties to the seventies. <br> Uli
michael_briggs2
The shutter used for this lens may have changed over the years. Your best tactic is to carefully measure the threads on the cells.
capocheny
If it's the 360 f6.8 Symmar... I have mine mounted on a Copal 3 shutter. S.K. Grimes did the mount and made up the aperture scale for it. It's a huge piece of glass but it works like a charm! You might want to contact them for more information... speak with Adam. They did a marvelous job on it!
