Andrew in Austin Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 I received one those almighty FED 2's with a collaspible Industar 50 last week. I decided to take it for a walk about during my lunch break. Unfortunately, it was dreary and sometime rainy December day.<div></div> Best Regards - Andrew in Austin, TX
Andrew in Austin Posted December 8, 2004 Author Posted December 8, 2004 I bid on this FED 2 on a Sunday night, while bidding on a Zeiss-Ikon lens hood. One week later, I was the only and therefore the high bidder.<div></div> Best Regards - Andrew in Austin, TX
Andrew in Austin Posted December 8, 2004 Author Posted December 8, 2004 Moral of the story be careful when placing a bid on a FED. You'll probably become its new owner. This one, a Type D, is in good conditon. Cupog was the seller.<div></div> Best Regards - Andrew in Austin, TX
Guest Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Well that's pretty cool Andrew. I bought a red Zorki C in Germany last week. McKeown's doesn't list red as a choice for the Zorki C. Could it be possible that my Zorki is extremely rare and worth a fortune ? Nah.... It also has a collapsible lens and looks a lot like the FED 2. I paid about $12 for it. Your shots look great. I'll load up my Zorki with some color film for a change and post the results here one day. Be careful, I've heard that buying old Russian viewfinders can be addictive.
NetR Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Cupog is a terrific seller. If you want something in line with what he usually sells, ask him for a price for one. And if you have a problem, he will fix it. I still prefer the early Kievs though. Regards, Ross
Andrew in Austin Posted December 9, 2004 Author Posted December 9, 2004 Gene, this one is a keep even though it cost a whopping $24.99, plus $15.00 for shipping. It's an easy to carry, low cost 35mm rangefinder, that may or may not see some color film in the near future. Also, the bug has already struck. I'm awaiting the arrival of a Zorki 3M. One last photo, to show what Monday's weather was like. The building in the background is across the street, one block away to the right.<div></div> Best Regards - Andrew in Austin, TX
paulh Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Welcome comrade Andrew :-) There is a whole line of Feds to get, then the complete line of Zorki, Kiev, then the MF RFs, then the larger format ones. And that's not including the lenses... Should keep you occupied for a little while.
cenelsonfoto Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 I love that image. thanks for posting it.
