Programmable automated (air) cable release available?

hi

ive got quite a few old cameras that have the standard air cable

release screw hole mounted in them somewhere. ive been doing a lot of

slow exposure shots recently. now some of these cameras have quite

limited shutter speeds, only going down to half a second. but they do

have a manual (B) speed.

so, my question is, can i get a device that can be screwed into the

cable release socket that automates the exposure if the camera is on

B. such a device would need to allow programmable exposure times put

into it before firing of course. are such devices available? and

are any portable and cheap?

thanks for any info!

Prontor made one that timed from 1 to 34 sec and was sold by B and H for $600. The now discontinued item will run about $150 on ebay but if you get lucky you can snag one for $35. There is one other item that will do what you want for about $5 it's the autoknips II self timer. It times from 1/2 to 10 seconds and is quite nice for the money. You're only other options are to get a cable release and a stopwatch or metronome a light up stopwatch is nice. Thats it in a nutshell I've been through this and tried all the above. P.S. want a prontor I have an extra
