patrick_frey
Does anyone know an 8x10 paper that compares to HP Premium Plus when printing B/W with #59?
ronald_smith2
The Fuji papers seem to work well. TBH, the HP Premium Plus is as good as it gets with the 7960 and b/w and there's not much saving with other papers - the #59 tank is still going to disappear just as quickly! (my only real complaint about the 7960)
steve bell
I tend you use a lot of Ilford Classic Pearl A4 with my 7660, similar to your printer, it's also a swellable polymer paper so will have similar archival properties to HP's paper. It also looks very nice, I use the HP Premium Plus Matt paper setting and maximum resolution. Steve Bell
paulh
Never really used the Premium Plus, bar that which came with the printer, so can't help you with a direct substitute. One paper I do like with the B+W #59 cartridge is Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl paper. Looks good with colour too. Paul
des adams
The way I heard it was that Ilford Classic Pearl absorbs the 59 ink just like HPs Premium Plus. Important for archival concerns. The Ilford Smooth pearl does not asorb. Ilford Classic Pearl is for dye inks like the HP, not for pigment inks.
joshua daniels
Kodak's best paper gives beautiful - and supposedly longlasting - prints on the 7960.
dickhilker
Try Red River Paper: http://www.redrivercatalog.com/sbprinter/hp/upsatin.htm I'm not familiar with HP papers, but they seem to have quite a good variety. Dick
kent_morris
I have once or twice compared the HP premium plus matte to the ilford gallerie classic pearl and have preferred the ilford paper ever so slightly. The blacks are a little blacker on the ilford. Both are good though. The kodak paper is okay too, but i don't think i liked the finish quite as much as the other two papers, but it is also designed to work with the HP inks.
