Matthew Currie Posted October 13, 2006 Share Posted October 13, 2006 I'm not sure of the size, but on the 500/4P lens, the cap is not really a cap as such, but more like a drawstring bag with a stiff circular bottom, which slips over the outer end of the lens when the also-enormous hood is nested on it. It simplifies the problem of attaching the cap to end of the inverted hood, or inverting the hood over a cap.
