wendy_porter
I really love the look of some contemporary wedding photographs. They are partially in focus and have a dreamy, etheral quality. I don't know how to arrive at this effect. It might be rear or second curtain sync, but the effect is shown on images with little movement as well as motion shots. I have a Canon 10d and my question is if it is rear curtain sync, how do I do it, and if it isn't does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks in advance. mattalofs
Rear curtain sync is a custom setting on the 10D. Check your manual. Pretty sure that the ehteral quality you are after is primarily done in PS or with a soft focus filter. Why not ask over at the wedding forum? beauh44
Hi Wendy, Can you post an example of what you're shooting for? There are several techniques one could use to get "dreamy"! ;-)
basscheffers
Soft focus / diffuser filter. You can do similar in PS, but you probably want the real thing.
donald_choi
Perhaps you are refering to this effect: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/glow.shtml
frank_dzambic
You can also experiment by buying the cheapest UV filter you can find, and then putting a very thin coat of vaseline on it and smearing it around, or by stretching a nylong stocking (pantyhose over it), or by doing double exposures, or by using a soft focus filter, etc, etc, etc. Since you're shooting digital, you'll know it when you've found it.
