Metz 54MZ TTL with Lightsphere II on Leica

Yikes! I bought the smaller Metz 32Z to work with my M6TTL, and even that's too big! The SF20 is good when you need the TTL function, but for size, nothing beats the dirt-cheap Sunpak 1600. Tape a bounce card onto it, and it works great. Buy two; they're cheap, and it's easier than changing batteries! ;-)

It matters how big the groups will be. Neither one of those flashes are going to give you

enough light indoors at f/5.6 or f/8 if you need it to get a second row in focus. For that I

would use the Metz (with a peanut slave if it'll take one) held by another, and the 285 in

the hot shoe... or the other way around.

I use the SF20 with one of Lutz's S-Fill diffusers, but I'm usually shooting wide open and

dragging the shutter for candids.
