ka_ho_wong
I am recently interested into the old Russian lens. (I know I need adapter for Ms) So, they are LTM whenever it says 39mm mount, right? Where should I look at except for Bbay? Any useful site that I can learn more about those Russian lens? Any recommendations when buying them? Oh, by the way I am actually looking for the 50mm's. Thanks

steven_forrey
This fellow is good: http://www.sovietcamera.com.ua/ The Jupiter-8 is a 50/2 Sonnar copy, and a good one is a great shooter.
steven_forrey
PS -- may as well get a body attached to it, for ex: http://www.sovietcamera.com.ua/products/622.shtml Hard to go wrong for the prices these command.
john_shriver
Just be sure it is an RF coupled lens for a rangefinder camera. There are also lenses with 39mm threads for a Russian SLR system, which won't even scale focus correctly on a rangefinder.
ray g.
Yuri at http://www.fedka.com is very knowledgable and helpful. He is in New York. Prices are higher than getting them from the FSU, but with him, you are not gambling.
paul t
You need L39, or LTM, lenses, as opposed to M39 lenses (which are the SLR ones). The Russian forum at www.beststuff.com is a good place to find out about them. They have a list of recommended ex-USSR sellers there, too. alexphoto is one who seems to be widely recommended. Look out for excessive postage costs, and whether they take PayPal, as that makes a big difference to the final pricetag.
ed_berns1
I second the recommendation for Yuri. The best to deal with. No surprises. No disappointments. Ed B.

peter_4711
Hello, best performer russian 50mm lens for rangefinder camera fitted with an adapter on M Leica cameras are the: Industar 61 2,8/53mm LD. Look on "LD" like low dispersion for highest quality. The same Industar 61 without LD is an Tessar type too, but don't included special glasses. Good luck peter
