wickedmartini
I have been doing some research on noise reduction software and plug-ins for PS. Noise Ninja seems to be very popular but I have also had a few people recommend NeatImage. Just wondered what any of you might recommend and why. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you! roger_smith4
Noise Ninja delivers subtle results for my film scans without some of the artifacts and extensive tweaking I had needed to do with NeatImage. I switched about a year ago.
AaronFalkenberg
I had been using Kodak's Digital Gem Pro plugin and thought the "fine" algorithm was very good. Then I tried NN and found that it retained more fine detail and smooth tonal texture than GEM Pro while still removing visible grain. The power of NN is that it builds an editable noise profile for each image if your scanning film (like I do), or a profile you can base on ISO for a specific digital camera. juergenf
"Just wondered what any of you might recommend" I love digital but the obvious answer for noise problems is to shoot film (not very helpful, I know ;-)
fanta
I cannot compare because am only been using NeatImage. However, I believe you can test drive them both for free.
robert goldstein
<I love digital but the obvious answer for noise problems is to shoot film (not very helpful, I know ;-)> Of course, if you scan the film, then you've got noise to deal with. I am very pleased with Noiseware Professional.
pturton
Using an edge mask with the NeatImage plugin works well for me. With proper profiles installed, NI is quick and easy yielding excellent results.
hugh_croft
I quite often like the effect of noise and will use a too high iso to get it...
dave_osborne
It pretty much agree with Roger... I switched to Noise Ninja after using Neatimage for some time. NN does a great job of calming the grain/noise without overdoing it, which I felt NI did often.

paul_sokal___dallas__tx
Noiseware. I think it's better and easier than Noise Ninja or Neat Image.
