Hmm... ever used a grip? No? Try it. If you don't like it, don't use it. If you do like it, your

question will be answered. Why bother? Becuase the Leica one is flimsy, because offering

Leicaphiles something nifty can be a decent way to make a few bucks, because making

stuff is fun, because using something you've 'customized' offers even more of the mostly

irrational pleasure that Leica-identifying people thrive on (but often deny the existence

of).

 

For my part, I think it looks kind of nice, but not entirely graceful. I don't really like the

big, apparently sharply radiused hole for the latch access. It seems like it might be heavy,

and I like the solid feeling I imagine it has. I've not used the GMP one, but liked the shape

of the Leica model (I just didn't like its flex). Price seems a bit steep for one grip, which is

all most are likely to use, and I'd rather pay $89 for one combination than $140 for three,

two thirds of which will sit in a drawer.

Why post? Because it's too expensive. I use both a plastic and metal GMP grips with my M6 and M7 which were bought used for $65 total.
