joe_margetts2
A friend of mine has given me an 80mm f2 manual focus Nikkor in mint condition and is trusting me to pay him a fair price for it. It comes complete with a Nikon metal lens hood. My friend inherited it and has no interest in photography. I can't find a new price for this lens and nor could I find one on Ebay. Could anyone give me a guide price for this lens, preferably in pounds sterling? Many thanks, Joe
eric friedemann
Do you mean an 85mm f/2.0?
dougs
well nikon, i dont believe made an 80mm F/2 lens, they made an f/2.8 or an 85mm f/2, if it is later? maybe $175 - $200usd in real good condition
eric friedemann
My hat is off to you Douglas; I didn't remember the 80mm f/2.8 for the Nikon F3AF: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/AFNikkor/F3AFlenses/
michael_bradtke
Joe Take a look at www.KEH.com They can at least give you a ballpark figure on what to pay for it. Michael
Michael R Freeman
I would agree with Douglas - approximately $200USD is fair for a very nice sample of the 85mm f/2 with the HS-10 hood and caps (although I have witnessed uniformed fools paying over $300 for this lens). The lens has been out of production for over a decade, so you won't likely find any new prices.
david_h._hartman
KEH.com is asking $225.00 (USD) for an "Excellent Plus" 85/2.0 AI and $299.00 for an "Excellent Plus" 85/2.0 AIS. KEH.com "Excellent Plus" lenses are often pretty near mint. KEH.coms prices are always high. You are paying for the 14 trial exchange and 120 day warranty and the safety of KEH.com v. eBay. I used to pay less buying used lenses locally before eBay got so popular.

I think about $190.00 for an AI and about $225.00 for an AIS. These prices are higher than hed ever get selling to a camera store. Id do it for a friend.

Regards,

Dave Hartman.
mskovacs
Is there anyone that has owned this and the non-AI 85/1.8 lenses? Moose Peterson trashes the 85/2 in comparison and I'm wondering if its fair. The 85/1.4 in any carnation is really nice but HUGE. The factory AI'd 85/1.8 are not easy to come by, especially in the late "AI look" finish with the rubber focusing ring.
Michael R Freeman
See here: http://www.nikonians.org/dcforum/DCForumID6/5006.html
While I have never used the f/1.8, the f/2 is one of my favorite Nikkors. Moose be damned! :-)
Mike
chris haake
Could this be the 1983 80mm internal AF lens that works only with the F3AF? Or was that an f/2.8? If it is, Joe, it will not work with ANY camera but the F3AF. You'll be able to identify it by a switch on the side with "A" and "M" on it. Good luck!
