Ricoh auto 66 determining shutter speed and aperature

I have an old Ricoh auto 66. Shot a roll of film through it - works

fine - even the meter seems about right.

The exposure is set entirely with EV numbers. That is - match needle

with an EV dile. There appears to be no opportunity to select

shutter speed and aperature separately.

Anybody using this camera? Am I missing something here? Is there a

way to figure out what the apperature setting is and thus figure out

the shutter speed etc.

Thanks

Charles

It's great to hear that a fellow Auto 66 owner is using his, since I have never used mine.

You can select aperture but shutter speed is fixed at flash sync (probably 1/30s). Next to that (and B) it is program only. I'm not aware of any program charts for the Auto 66.

Thanks Siu Fai,

It's fun to use this camera every once and a while. Does your meter still work. This one sure seems to work - numbers are fairly close to what I get with my handheld meter.

That's good info that you can select the aperature at flash sync. This was exactly the kind of info I was looking for since I can clearly see there is an aperature dial but it only engages with flash sync and 'B'.

I will fire off a roll at flash sync and see if I can hand hold it. Hey it's all in good fun anyway!

Maybe somebody on this forum will come up with a chart for the EV program.

Thanks again.

Charles, the meter in my Auto 66 seems to be accurate as well. But I haven't tried it with film.

There are literature available that shows the program characteristic of the Rollei Magic, but non of the Auto 66, as far as I am aware of. The Magic program curve is definately not linear.

Have fun with your Auto 66.

PS: I also have the Ricohmatic 44 (4x4cm similar model), but unfortunately my sample has a dead meter.
