kpfeif
I think the subject says it all, but I can't find *anything* onCanon's site or the usenet about this combination. Logic says itshould work fine, but I'd like a definite answer before I buy the 20D. I'm currenlty shooting with an Elan IIe and 380EX. Thanks,Kris
andrei_lau1
Sure! I'm using this combo, that also support E-TTL2.
Greg M
Yeah, unfortunately the Canon site is only devoted for the most part to current equipment- there's a small section where you can find info on recently discontinued stuff, but that's it. The 380EX has been out of production for a little while now, but it is an E-TTL flash so should work fine with the 20D.
steve_dunn2
Absolutely; in fact, it does E-TTL II. Any EX series flash does E-TTL on a body which supports E-TTL - and any EX series flash does E-TTL II on a body which supports E-TTL II, since the only difference between E-TTL and E-TTL II is in the body's flash metering system.
cgo
I thought you had to go to the 580EX to get E-TTL-II ...
steve_dunn2
E-TTL II is a flash metering feature, and flash metering is a body feature. It uses the same pre-flash as E-TTL, so it requires an E-TTL-capable flash (i.e. a Canon EX series or compatible third-party unit).
