Canon T90 and off camer flash

I would like to use my 300TL off camera with the T90. I understand

that to do so one needs the Canon hot-shoe adaptor as well as the

properly connecting cord (60/300 according to 300TL manual). I don't

need a long extension, just enough to mount the flash out toward the

lens for macro work. So here's my question: first, will EOS off

shoe flash cord work and be able to retain all features of the

T90/300TL connection? There are some in the EOS version where the

chord and adaptor come together. I could be missing it, but I can't

find such an animal for the T90. Second, what about non-Canon

makers? Are there any off brand adaptors/cords that allow the full

use of the 300TL/T90 combination?

Thanks.

The best, and cheapest way it to use a "Off-Camera Shoe Cord 2". Still used for the EOS line and easy to get. It's a 60cm spiral cord with a shoe in one end and a connection for the flash shoe on the camera in the other. With this you can use all modes on the 300TL, incl. ATTL and FEL. The adapters and extention cord doesn't allow FEL. I don't know of any off brand cords.

Thanks Ketil. I think the off shoe cord 2 was the one I saw on B&H and was wondering about. I don't have my manual here in front of me so I can't check for sure, but if I've understood you correctly even with the cord and adaptor listed in the 300TL manual one is unable to retain FEL? If that's the case I'm surprised by that, although I certainly would trust you above my own suspicions. But in any case it's irrelevant if the of shoe cord 2 will work. Thanks again.
