christopher.
I know it will be a while, but when will they be around the $1350 mark. In other words, when the 10D came out, how long before the initial rush wore off and the prices decreased a bit? Any ideas?
coolmingli
The 10D price fall happened about 5 month before the 20D came out, I bought my 10D for $1350 this year in June.
brad_w
Chris, IMO, DSLR prices seem to be dictated not so much by "date-ed-ness" but by product line changes. The 10D hung in around $1500 for a long time despite competition from the Nikon D100. When the DReb became available it offered a viable alternative for some parts of the 10D market and prices began dropping slowly. 1D MkII prices have slipped a small bit since the announcement of the 1Ds MkII. Like Starbucks, Canon is now their own worst competition. My guess would be that if/when an 8MP DReb is on the way, 20D prices will slip. -b
digitmstr
the 10D is sitll being sold at $1,499.00 in some stores! B&H has it around $1,200.00 I think. they also had a d30 used for almost $700.00 - so, it's all over the place. They will fall when people stop buying it...ot a NEW, better model comes out for the same or less money.
PuppyDigs
I bought my 10D from Gateway in May 2003 for $1350 including shipping. That was about 3 months after the 10D was widely available. I imagine the 20D will be discounted similarly in a few months. Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see. - Robert Hunter
liem_phan
They'll fall when the DRebel Mk2 comes out at the next PMA !
derrick_morin___fallon__ne
I'm sure it will be more affordable by the time I order my $4,500 10+MP 1D MkIII. Hmmmm... hope that happens soon.
chiswick_john
They will fall slightly when supply excedes demand and dealers have to do some competing. They will fall agin when the 30D is introduced (in 18-24months? time).
alistair o
The 10D started to fall when Nikon bought out the D70 and fell some more when 20D was rumoured. So look out for Nikon D200 (next new Nikon due) followed 6-12 months later by 30D.
