20D prices - when will they fall?

Chris,

IMO, DSLR prices seem to be dictated not so much by "date-ed-ness" but by

product line changes. The 10D hung in around $1500 for a long time despite

competition from the Nikon D100. When the DReb became available it

offered a viable alternative for some parts of the 10D market and prices began

dropping slowly. 1D MkII prices have slipped a small bit since the

announcement of the 1Ds MkII.

Like Starbucks, Canon is now their own worst competition. My guess would

be that if/when an 8MP DReb is on the way, 20D prices will slip.

the 10D is sitll being sold at $1,499.00 in some stores! B&H has it around $1,200.00 I think. they also had a d30 used for almost $700.00 - so, it's all over the place.

They will fall when people stop buying it...ot a NEW, better model comes out for the same or less money.

I bought my 10D from Gateway in May 2003 for $1350 including shipping. That was about

3 months after the 10D was widely available. I imagine the 20D will be discounted

similarly in a few months.

Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see.
