victor_zhou
I just bought a Canon 1N. And to my curiocity, is there someone whoknows where the metering sensor is mounted in the body? On the other hand, I may replace the focus screen. For this woke, canI do it as DIY, or I have to send it out to have Canon service to do that? Thanks, Victor
james_castagno
If you mean the EOS-1N you can change the focusing screen yourself, it will take about 10 seconds.
victor_zhou
How to change it? I haven't found any instruction to change the focus screen on the manual. Thanks, Victor
larry_underwood
If you by a new replacement screen, they come with instructions and a little plastic tool to unlatch the focus screen holder and to use in grasping the screen for removal and replacement. There is a little "tab" on each screen that is used for the grasping.
steve_dunn2
The ambient metering sensors in EOS bodies are mounted somewhere in the area of the pentaprism (or pentamirror, for cheaper bodies) assembly, and they read light as it hits the focus screen - which is why some bodies with interchangeable focus screens have a custom function to adjust metering if you use a brighter or darker focus screen.

The flash metering sensor is located in the bottom of the mirror box and reads light off the film during exposure. Some newer bodies can use the ambient metering sensor for flash metering with an appropriate flash unit; the 1N is not one of these.
