terry_rory
There is a 30 minute programme on BBC4 TV tonight at 22:00 about the famous Liverpool photographer E.Chambre Hardman. (Narrated by John Peel.) Please join me in watching it. I was lucky enough to get a 12x16 print (from the original neg) of a 1936 photo of his called 'The Rick' for 55 GBP a few years ago before the National Trust (and the lottery fund) took over from the original E.Chambre Hardman Trust. The National Trust have ploughed more than a million pounds into conserving and restoring his studio and conserving/archiving his negs. (tens of thousands of them!) Public access and education is due to start soon. (I hope) He is a real asset to Liverpool and a nationally important photographer (in the UK) who is only just beginnning to get his due recognition 16 years after his death. He was a leading figure in the pictorialist style AND a prolific recorder of local life as well as a successful commercial photographer (portraits, weddings etc.) which he did to earn his keep. terry_rory
Update:- I checked the National Trust website and it seems that 59 Rodney Street, Liverpool can now be visited. (from 15th September) I must arrange for some sort of 'pilgrimmage' one day.

fay_cori
Thanks Trevor for listing the programme about Edward Hardman. I am doing my late-night lurking and realised I had missed it. Fortunately it is on again at 12.50am so I will set up the video recorder to enjoy it tomorrow. Thanks also for your previous mentions of photography-related programmes ? keep at it please.
