chris_david
The Nikon 950 we use at work has died and we need a replacement. I see that Nikon no longer makes the swivel type of camera which happens to be ideally suited to our use. Specifically, we take a lot of macro shots and use the camera "stacked" on top of a microscope eye piece to shot super macros. The 28mm filter size makes the 950 perfect for this. Any suggestions for a replacement? I'm thinking of a 995 if I can find a new one. Buying a used camera is not an option.
jorgeortega
We had the same problem. We invested over $1000 cnd in the microscope adaptal and then Nikon decided to discontinued these kind of cameras! This is the best we got. http://www.cameracanada.com/eNet-cart/Product.asp?pid=CP990&type=1 Good luck
larry_tudor1
Unless I'm wrong,Nikon still sell the Coolpix 4500
chris_david
Actually, they don't make the 4500 anymore but I did find one place that still had a few new ones left in stock. I find it a bit surprising Nikon is giving up on the swivels especially since they make industrial microscopes that work very well with these. I guess the consumer appeal wasn't there. Thanks, Chris
