Leica CM...that old recall...?

Recommended Posts

I recently acquired a Leica CM. And I have a couple questions.

I saw something on photo.net about the CM's getting recalled earlier

this year. The thread said it had something to do with faulty battery

readings and some electronics problem.

Well...my battery level this is clearly wrong. It started reading a

full battery as not so full...and then started reading it as full

again. This thing is majorly confused.

Is my CM one that should have been recalled?

Sounds exactly the problem the very early CM's were recalled for.

If brand new, get dealer to exchange it. If used then I assume you have the passport/warranty. Either return under the conditions of the dealer you bought it from (most have a return period like 20 days) or if bought from a private individual contact Leica. (All CM's are less than a year old and should be covered for a good while yet.)

Also e-mail the vendor and ask them why the hell they 'dumped' the camera rather than get it fixed/exchanged under the official scheme!)

The faulty battery reading has only happened once so far. I turned off and turned it back on...it's been OK. I guess if it crops up again, I'll send it in to Leica.

Is that the only bad thing that can happen? I thought I heard about some sort of error code where the camera just stops working...or was that with the Minilux?
