Almost true, BUT.

<p>

Some older flashes produce very high voltages across their contacts.

High enough to fry the brains of poor delicate modern electronic

cameras.

The AE1P is an electronic camera, although how delicate I don't know.

I have read that you can get some kind of intermediate device that

reduces the voltages, but I don't know any more than that I'm afraid.

Thanks for your anwers.

Actually the Strobonar mounts on a bracket that attaches to the

camera connecting with a cable to fire it. There are not any contact

points and I'm not sure what the voltage is. It works fine with my

FTQL and my Rolleiflex, but just not sure about the AE 1 Program yet.

If you're worried about the potential trigger voltage issue, Wein

makes a device called the "Safe Sync." The model you would want would

be the hot shoe version, then you plug the PC cord from your Strobonar

into a PC socket on the Wein.

That said, I doubt this would be a problem. The AE-1P doesn't have

any sophisticated sync or TTL metering capabilities like some new

cameras, so I can't imagine what electronics would be involved.
