david cunningham
Looks to me like you've got some dust on the sensor. Clean the sensor and you should be find. David

jean_berard
Hi Dorothy, Someone else posted the same questions the same day. :-) It seems that you have dust stuck on the CCD filter. If you want to clean it yourself ... http://www.pbase.com/copperhill/ccd_cleaning I tried it and I am very happy!! Otherwise bring it to your local Nikon. Way more expensive option. I don't suggest using a blower since you will stire the dust inside the chamber. Never use canned air. If you spray liquid on the CCD, you're in big trouble. If you have dust often on the CCD, consider being more carefull when you change lenses. I usually try to face the camera down and not let it without a lens too long. Good luck. nick_w.
One way to slow dust build-up on your sensor is to turn the camera off before switching lenses. When the camera is on the sensor is charged, creating static-electricity, which attracts dust. Although I still get dust on my camera sensors, it doesn't happen as quickly as it used to. daniel hayduk
To add onto Jean Berard's post...As an alternative to canned air, you can (so I've been told) use canned CO2, as there is not propellant.

/daniel
daniel hayduk
That should read: as there is no propellant.

/daniel
