wimberley sidekick and/or Kirk King Cobra

Can anyone comment ont their experience with either of these two

products? How secure are they? Ease of use? Worth the extra for the

full blown Wimberley? To be used with Canon 500/4 Thanks.

If you have a good ball-head, the 500mm will work just fine on the Sidekick. That combo gives you the best of both worlds: a gimbal for your long lenses (300mm to 500mm) and a ballhead for shorter lenses. I don't have a 600mm, but I think that it would require the full Wimberley.

I use a King Cobra with my Nikon 500mm manual focus f 4.0. I love it. I do not have Canon equipment, but I would expect that either the Sidekick with the BH1 or the K Cobra would work well for you. Which one to buy is purely a personal preference. If I had a 600mm f 4.0 I wqould use a Wimberley. If you use fill flash with your 500mm lens, make sure that whatever you buy will work with your flash brackets. Or take that into consideration beofre you determine whether to go with Kirk or Wimberley. Joe smith

Thanks for the responses. I haven't decided which route to take yet but am leaning towards the sidekick.
