scott_j._little
Hello.
I've stumbled across what appears to be a very tempting price on a Hasselblad 501C outfit...with the 80mm lens, acute matte screen and A12 back. A local (chain) photo store is selling the kit for $1500US...brand new, in the box with USA warranty.
I'm considering a switch to MF and really like the design and simplicity of the 500 series...but...
Am I overlooking something? All the mail-order ads show prices in the $2500 range..consistently. Is there a "bugaboo" surrounding the 501C?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Scott
mark_hubbard
Good morning, Scott. Scoop that sucker up! It's $2600 at my local photo shop. The only deal I've seen that comes close to that was offered by Hasselblad to registered college students for awhile (alas, two decades too late for me!). Treat it well and you will MAKE money when you sell it. That's the magic of medium format. (Well, you know what I mean -- I'm excited for you -- it's the big neg, not the big money you're saving that's important.) GO GET IT!
